Not a big story in a game in Santa Fe where 14th ranked Independiente (2-6) was defeated by eighth ranked Colon SF (5-3) 96-87 on Sunday. Colon SF shot 60.9 percent from the field. Colon SF outrebounded Independiente 41-25 including a 35-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Dwayne Russell (203, college: St.Thomas, FL) who had a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 15 rebounds (on 14-of-17 shooting from the field). Point guard Joaquin Baeza (182-1986, agency: BIG) chipped in 20 points and 8 assists. Guard Emiliano Correa (188-1991) produced 26 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and point guard Tomas Allende (190-2002) added 15 points respectively for the guests. Five Colon SF and four Independiente players scored in double figures. Colon SF moved-up to fifth place. Loser Independiente keeps the fourteenth position with six games lost. They share it with CAO Ceres. Colon SF will meet Dep Norte (#9) in the next round. Independiente will play against Echague (#10) in Parana and hope to secure a win.
