Very predictable result when ninth ranked Minas (4-3) won against 14th ranked Cerrado (1-6) in Brasilia 112-102 on Thursday. Minas dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Cerrado's 26 and made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Cerrado 45-28 including 30 on the defensive glass. American players dominated the game. Guard Shaquille Johnson (191-1990, college: Marshall) notched 24 points and 9 rebounds to lead the effort and forward Novar Gadson (201-1989, college: Rider) supported him with 22 points and 5 assists. Minas' coach Leonardo Costa used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even a double-double of 28 points and 10 rebounds by guard Anthony Harris (196, college: Chicago St.) did not help to save the game for Cerrado. Point guard Keyron Sheard (188-1986, college: Chattanooga, agency: Haylett Sports) added 32 points. Five Minas and four Cerrado players scored in double figures. Minas have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Corinthians. Cerrado lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the fifteenth position with six games lost. They share it with Fortaleza and Pato Basquete. Minas will meet Brasilia (#12) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Cerrado will have a break next round.
