Everything went according to plan in Comodoro Rivadavia where second ranked Gimnasia (7-2) beat 7th ranked Ferro (4-5) 86-71 on Saturday. Gimnasia made 22-of-28 free shots (78.6 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was the former international Ivan Gramajo (193-1996) who scored 18 points and 5 rebounds. The former international Agustin Barreiro (205-1999) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds. Point guard Tomas Spano (183-1998) produced 19 points and 4 assists and swingman Valentin Bettiga (189-1999) added 13 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gimnasia maintains second position with 7-2 record having seven points less than leader Instituto. Loser Ferro dropped to the ninth place with five games lost. They share the position with San Lorenzo. Gimnasia will meet Platense (#13) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Ferro will have a break next round.
