Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both sixteenth ranked Fortaleza and 17th ranked Pato had identical 1-6 record. This time Fortaleza used a home court advantage and outscored the opponent from Pato Branco 80-60 on Monday night. Fortaleza dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Pato's 22. They outrebounded Pato 54-33 including a 39-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. American swingman Dexter McClanahan (193-1997, college: Nicholls St.) fired 31 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Matheusinho Brito (184-2000) chipped in 15 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Colombian guard Romario Roque (180-1998) produced 13 points and 5 rebounds and Venezuelan swingman Jose Materan (196-1996) added 14 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Fortaleza (2-6) moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Rio Claro. Pato lost their third game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with seven games lost. Fortaleza will meet at home higher ranked Corinthians (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Pato will play against UNIFACISA (#11) in Paraiba and hope to win that game.
