Very predictable result in Santiago del Estero where first ranked Ameghino (11-2) defeated 13th ranked Independiente (3-7) 72-66 on Monday. They outrebounded Independiente 49-31 including 17 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was power forward Juan Luis Abeiro (200-1988) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds. Matias Martinez chipped in 17 points and 7 rebounds. Ameghino's coach Pablo Castro used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Lucio Castellani (196-1994) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Tomas Allende (190-2002) added 15 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Ameghino have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 11-2 record. Loser Independiente keeps the thirteenth place with seven games lost.
