Regular Season Round 7: Univ.Concepcion - UNAB Concep. 82-44

Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Concepcion: Univ.Concepcion (#1) and UNAB Concep. (#6). Univ.Concepcion (8-1) crushed visiting UNAB Concep. (1-7) by 38 points 82-44. Univ.Concepcion dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to UNAB Concep.'s 30. They outrebounded UNAB Concep. 50-36 including a 36-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Univ.Concepcion looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 3 passes made by UNAB Concep.'s players. It was a great evening for Italian-Argentinian Daniela Dublo (184-1988) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international center Francisca Rocha (185-2003) helped adding 18 points and 8 rebounds. At the losing side Mexican forward Macarena Ruiz (-2003) responded with 14 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Antonia Alonzo (-2000) scored 13 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Univ.Concepcion maintains first place with 8-1 record. Loser UNAB Concep. dropped to the fifth position with seven games lost. They share it with Infinito. Univ.Concepcion will meet at home league's second-placed Frontera in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. UNAB Concep. will play against Ceb Puerto Montt and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
