Regular Season Round 7: Frontera - Infinito 93-35

No shocking result in a game in Temuco where second ranked Frontera (7-2) smashed 5th ranked Infinito (1-7) 93-35 on Thursday. Frontera held Infinito to an opponent 18.2 percent shooting from the field compared to 52.6 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Infinito 64-31 including a 50-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Frontera looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Infinito's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Frontera made 7 blocks. It was a great evening for the former international forward Cosntanza Cardenas (185-1998) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 14 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 blocks. Forward Catalina Cordon (-2003) helped adding 18 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Frontera players scored in double figures. At the losing side Barbara Torres (168-2003) responded with 17 points and 8 rebounds and Josefa Catalan (-2003) scored 9 points and 6 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Frontera. They maintain second place with 7-2 record behind leader Univ.Concepcion, which they share with UDC. Infinito lost their sixth game in a row. They keep the fifth position with seven games lost. They share it with UNAB Concep.. Frontera will meet league's leader Univ.Concepcion on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Infinito will play against Alemana P. (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
