Regular Season Round 12: Puerto Montt - Puerto Varas 53-129

There was no surprise when 4th ranked Puerto Montt (2-6) was outplayed at home by second ranked Puerto Varas (7-1) 129-53 on Saturday. Puerto Varas dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Puerto Montt's 28. Puerto Varas forced 20 Puerto Montt turnovers and outrebounded them 48-25 including a 38-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Puerto Varas looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Puerto Montt's players. The best player for the winners was Argentinian Nahuel Martinez (188-1995) who scored 23 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). The former international power forward Juan Fontena (196-1987) chipped in 20 points and 7 rebounds. Four Puerto Varas players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international point guard Tomas Alvarez (185-1989) who recorded 18 points and Willington Rodallega (-2005) added 6 points and 5 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Puerto Varas have an impressive five-game winning streak.
