Seventeenth-ranked Riachuelo LR (2-5) used its home court advantage to challenge second ranked Gimnasia (10-2) in La Rioja. The visitors from Comodoro Rivadavia managed to secure only three-point victory 88-85. However their fans expected much easier game. Point guard Facundo Vazquez (185-1998) scored 22 points and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Cuban forward Joaquin Mensia (198-1997, agency: Pro Sports) chipped in 11 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Gimnasia will play against bottom-ranked Comunicaciones (#20) in Mercedes in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Riachuelo LR will have a break next round.
