No shocking result in a game when eighth ranked Defensor (4-4) edged 12th ranked Urunday (2-6) in Montevideo 59-58 on Monday. However just one-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. American-Jamaican Quintrell Thomas (203-1990, college: UNLV) nailed a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side and Canadian forward Mamadou Gueye (201-1993, college: Alberta) accounted for 7 points and 12 rebounds. American-Nigerian swingman Tanksley Efianayi (198-1994, college: UCF) came up with 16 points and 8 rebounds and naturalized Brazilian center Hatila Passos (211-1985, college: NM State) added 10 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Urunday in the defeat. Defensor moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Aguada and Hebraica. Urunday lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the eleventh position with six games lost. They share it with Olimpia and Urupan. Defensor will meet bottom-ranked Urupan (#13) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Urunday's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Montevideo Goes.
