Regular Season Round 9: Pato Basquete - Pinheiros 95-76

Bottom-ranked Pato managed to get a second victory, breaking the series of four consecutive losses. This time they outleveled sixth-ranked Pinheiros in Pato Branco 95-76. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 19-point difference suggests that Pato is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Colombian guard Romario Roque (180-1998) stepped up and scored 22 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and Jonatan Oliveira (188-1999) chipped in 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was the former international forward Rafael Munford (195-1998, college: Augusta) with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and the former international center Dikembe Andre (206-1999) scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. Five Pato and four Pinheiros players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Pato (2-8) moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Rio Claro and Fortaleza. Pinheiros at the other side keeps the sixth position with four games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Pato will play against higher ranked Caxias do Sul (#8) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Pinheiros' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Sao Paulo to the arena Corinthians.
