Eleventh-ranked Olimpia (2-7) gave a tough game to third ranked Penarol (6-4) in Montevideo. Penarol managed to secure only two-point victory 71-69. However their fans expected much easier game. Penarol brought some defensive toughness making 9 blocks. Americans were the main players on the court. Power forward Lee Roberts (203-1987, college: Findlay, OH) notched a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds to lead the effort and power forward Charles Thomas (202-1986, college: Arkansas) supported him with 14 points, 9 rebounds and 5 blocks. Four Penarol players scored in double figures. Even 23 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists by point guard Marcus Thomas (191-1995, college: Rosemont) did not help to save the game for Olimpia. Forward Delwan Graham (200-1988, college: Jacksonville) added 11 points and 11 rebounds for lost side. Olimpia's coach German Fernandez rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Penarol have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 6-4 record having just one point less than leader Bigua. Olimpia at the other side dropped to the twelfth place with seven games lost. They share the position with Urunday.
