Regular Season Round 18: Zarate Basket - Lanus 79-95

Very important is a home loss of third ranked Zarate Basket (10-6) against fourth ranked Lanus (9-5) on Sunday night. Host Zarate Basket was defeated by Lanus in Zarate 95-79. They made 20-of-24 charity shots (83.3 percent) during the game. Lanus outrebounded Zarate Basket 38-26 including 27 on the defensive glass. Zarate Basket was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Phil Bledsoe (198, college: GSC) notched a double-double by scoring 28 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and Jorge Banegas (190-1993, agency: BIG) supported him with 18 points and 4 assists. Five Lanus players scored in double figures. Even 32 points and 5 rebounds (went 16 for 16 at the free throw line !!!) by Agustin Brocal (191-1997) did not help to save the game for Zarate Basket. Point guard Lucas Andujar (185-1996) added 14 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Lanus have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 9-5 record. Zarate Basket at the other side keeps the third place with six games lost. Lanus will play against Pico FC (#13) in General Pico in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Zarate Basket will play at home against Estudiantes C. (#12) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
