Regular Season Round 19: Colon SF - GEPU 96-79

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when fifth ranked Colon SF (9-6) beat 4th placed GEPU (9-4) in Santa Fe 96-79 on Tuesday. Colon SF looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by GEPU's players. It was an exceptional evening for power forward Gianfranco Sinconi (204-1994) who led the winners and scored 34 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds. American forward Dwayne Russell (203, college: St.Thomas, FL) accounted for 16 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Joaquin Costa came up with 20 points and Jeffrey Merchant (197-1997) added 10 points and 6 rebounds respectively for GEPU in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. GEPU's coach Gustavo Fernandez rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Colon SF maintains fifth place with 9-6 record. Newly promoted GEPU keeps the fourth position with four games lost. Colon SF will meet at home league's second-placed San Isidro in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. GEPU will play against Villa S.Martin and hope to secure a win.
