There was no surprise in Santa Cruz do Sul where 15th ranked U.Corinthians (2-10) was defeated by thirteenth ranked Pato (4-8) 93-85 on Thursday. It was a great evening for center Gabriel Novaes (208-2001) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Colombian guard Romario Roque (180-1998) helped adding 16 points and 5 assists. Four Pato players scored in double figures. American MikeL Simms (196-1997, college: VCU) responded with 29 points and 6 rebounds and Italian-Argentinian forward Federico Aguerre (203-1988) scored 21 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Pato. They maintain thirteenth place with 4-8 record. U.Corinthians at the other side keeps the fifteenth position with ten games lost. They share it with Rio Claro. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
