There was a small surprise when twelfth ranked Urupan (4-7) won against at home 9th ranked L.Borges (5-6) 79-67 on Friday. Urupan dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to L.Borges' 26. The winners were led by Lithuanian center Zygimantas Riauka (206-1993, college: UW-Parkside) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds and point guard Mateo Sarni (185-1998) supported him with 12 points and 14 assists. Four Urupan players scored in double figures. Urupan's coach Esteban Yaquinta used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 18 points and 5 rebounds by American Akia Pruitt (203-1997, college: UNCP) did not help to save the game for L.Borges. Point guard Mauro Zubiaurre (189-1994) added 8 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Urupan moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Defensor. Loser L.Borges keep the ninth position with six games lost. Urupan will meet Olimpia (#12) in the next round. L.Borges' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Montevideo Nacional.
