There was a small surprise in Montevideo where twelfth ranked Olimpia (4-8) beat 10th ranked Urupan (4-8) 80-75 on Friday. American point guard Marcus Thomas (191-1995, college: Rosemont) fired 24 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. His fellow American import forward Delwan Graham (200-1988, college: Jacksonville) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists. Olimpia's coach German Fernandez used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Lithuanian center Zygimantas Riauka (206-1993, college: UW-Parkside) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists and point guard Mateo Sarni (185-1998) added 16 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Olimpia moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Defensor and Urupan. Olimpia's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Montevideo Nacional.
