Regular Season Round 19: Union - Regatas 73-75

A very close game took place in Santa Fe between Regatas and Union. Sixth ranked Regatas (9-4) got a very close victory on the road over 16th ranked Union (5-9). Regatas managed to escape with a 2-point win 75-73 on Sunday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Regatas had a 29-16 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Regatas made 7 blocks. It was an exceptional evening for point guard Tobias Franchela (185-2001) who led the winners and scored 33 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds. Point guard Juan Peral (179-2005) accounted for 13 points, 7 assists and 4 steals for the winning side. Matias Fleury (-2001) came up with 23 points and 7 rebounds and Facundo Chamorro added 17 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Union in the defeat. Union's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Regatas have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Independ.O. Union lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the seventeenth position with nine games lost. Regatas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Union will play against the league's leader Instituto (#1) in Cordoba and hope to secure a win.
