Regular Season Round 16: Boca - San Martin 81-64
Date: December 20, 2022
There was a small surprise when twelfth ranked Boca (7-7) defeated 10th ranked San Martin (7-4) in Buenos Aires 81-64 on Tuesday. Boca dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to San Martin's 22. The winners were led by the former international point guard Franco Balbi (188-1989) who scored that evening 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and American-Jordanian Dar Tucker (193-1988, college: DePaul) supported him with 18 points and 5 rebounds. Four Boca players scored in double figures. Boca's coach Gonzalo Garcia used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists by the former international Matias Solanas (192-1998) did not help to save the game for San Martin. International Javier Saiz (206-1994) added 8 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. Boca maintains twelfth position with 7-7 record. Loser San Martin dropped to the eleventh place with four games lost. Boca's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Buenos Aires to the arena Obras.
