No shocking result in a game when second ranked Flamengo (14-2) crushed 16th ranked Rio Claro (3-13) in Rio de Janeiro 110-57 on Tuesday. Flamengo shot 60.9 percent from the field. Flamengo outrebounded Rio Claro 40-20 including a 29-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 22 long-distance shots on high 59.5 percentage. Flamengo looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Rio Claro's players. It was an exceptional evening for the former international guard Gui Pereira (192-1991) who led the winners and scored 15 points and 8 assists. Point guard Matheus Leoni (187-2003) accounted for 17 points and 7 assists for the winning side. Four Flamengo players scored in double figures. Point guard Cassiano Bueno (189-1997) came up with 7 points and 5 assists and American point guard Kenny Dawkins (177-1987, college: Lamar) added 10 points respectively for Rio Claro in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the ninth consecutive win for Flamengo. They maintain second place with 14-2 record having just two points less than leader Sesi Franca. Loser Rio Claro keeps the sixteenth position with 13 games lost.
