There was a surprise result when thirteenth ranked Urupan (5-10) won against at home higher ranked Malvin (7-8) 89-83 on Monday. Urupan looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The winners were led by American forward Eric Ferguson (203-1989, college: Georgia South) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 22 points and 17 rebounds and point guard Fernando Martinez (173-1979, agency: Pro Sports) supported him with 19 points and 4 assists. Urupan's coach Esteban Yaquinta used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 23 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists by American swingman Anthony Hilliard (195-1986, college: ECSU) did not help to save the game for Malvin. U.S. Virgin Islands-Puerto Rican forward Ivan Aska (201-1990, college: Murray St., agency: 011 Sports) added 19 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Urupan moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Olimpia and Urunday. Loser Malvin dropped to the eighth position with eight games lost.
