Regular Season Round 18: Minas - Pinheiros 74-67

Everything went according to plan when fourth ranked Minas (13-5) defeated 6th ranked Pinheiros (11-7) in Belo Horizonte 74-67 on Thursday. Minas looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Guard Felipe Vezaro (192-1992, college: TAMIU) notched 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and the former international power forward Renan Lenz (207-1990, college: Utah) supported him with 18 points and 8 rebounds. Four Minas players scored in double figures. Even 18 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists by forward Jonas Buffat (191-2000) did not help to save the game for Pinheiros. Canadian forward Richard Amardi (206-1990, college: Oregon, agency: BIG) added 13 points and 10 rebounds. Pinheiros' coach David Pelosini rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Minas have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Sao Paulo. Loser Pinheiros keeps the sixth position with seven games lost. Minas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Pinheiros will play against Cerrado (#15) and hope to secure a win.
