The game had a very big importance for fourth-ranked Teclenas as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Teclenas smashed second-best Santa Tecla Elite on the road 67-45. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Santa Tecla Elite. Teclenas dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Santa Tecla Elite's 30. They outrebounded Santa Tecla Elite 64-51 including 25 on the offensive glass. Teclenas looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was forward Leyla Miranda (168-1999) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Center Jennifer Jovel (167-1999) chipped in 12 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Karla Candelas (172-1988) who recorded 7 points, 10 rebounds, 9 assists and 5 steals and Karla Alas (165-1996) added 10 points and 6 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Santa Tecla Elite at the other side still keeps top place with 0 game lost. Santa Tecla Elite will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. Teclenas will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Sivar at home.
