Undefeated Costa Rica (4-1) recorded its first loss at the home court. Hosts were rolled over by eighth ranked Santa Tecla F1 (0-6) 82-45. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Costa Rica. Santa Tecla F1 held Costa Rica to an opponent 22.7 percent shooting from the field compared to 45.6 percent accuracy of the winners. Santa Tecla F1 had a 46-35 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 31 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Costa Rica's players. It was a good game for Adriana Rivas (175-1996) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Gracia Flamenco (173-2000) contributed with 19 points and 4 steals (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Santa Tecla F1 players scored in double figures. Alicia Abarca (165-1997) replied with 15 points and 6 rebounds and center Leslie Sermeno (176-1997) added 4 points and 13 rebounds in the effort for Costa Rica. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Santa Tecla F1 maintains eighth position with 0-6 record. Costa Rica at the other side dropped to the second place with one game lost. Santa Tecla F1 will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Costa Rica will play against Opico and hopes to get back on the winning track.
