Regular Season Round 20: Bauru - Cerrado 97-73
Date: January 18, 2023
Very expected game when 15th ranked Cerrado (4-16) was rolled over on the road by eighth ranked Paschoalotto/Bauru (11-8) 97-73 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 55-29 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Paschoalotto/Bauru dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Cerrado's 26. They outrebounded Cerrado 40-26 including 31 on the defensive glass. Paschoalotto/Bauru looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Cerrado's players. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international guard Danilo Fuzaro (193-1994) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists and American forward Emmitt Holt (201-1996, college: Providence) who added 21 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Four Paschoalotto/Bauru players scored in double figures. American guard Anthony Harris (196, college: Chicago St.) responded with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and his fellow American import guard Rashaun McLemore (195-1986, college: CSUN) scored 23 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Defending champion moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Corinthians. Cerrado lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifteenth position with 16 games lost. Paschoalotto/Bauru will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Cerrado will play against U.Corinthians (#16) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
