The game between closely ranked teams ended with twelfth ranked Defensor's (7-10) home victory over bottom-ranked Olimpia (5-12) in Montevideo 82-66 on Friday. Defensor dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Olimpia's 36. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Olimpia's players. American forward Dion Wright (201-1993, college: St.Bonaventure, agency: Inception Sports) notched 22 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and American-Jamaican Quintrell Thomas (203-1990, college: UNLV) supported him with 19 points and 9 rebounds. Four Defensor players scored in double figures. Even 31 points and 7 rebounds by American point guard Marcus Thomas (191-1995, college: Rosemont) did not help to save the game for Olimpia. Naturalized Spanish guard Gustavo Barrera (194-1985) added 4 points and 5 rebounds. Olimpia's coach German Fernandez tested eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Defensor have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Urunday and Urupan. Olimpia lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 12 games lost. Defensor's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Montevideo to the arena Penarol.
