Regular Season Round 29: Lanus - Pergamino 98-83

There was no surprise when 11th ranked Pergamino (8-11) lost to fifth ranked Lanus (12-6) in Buenos Aires 83-98 on Saturday. Lanus shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 53.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Jorge Banegas (190-1993, agency: BIG) nailed 20 points and 4 assists for the winning side and swingman Lucas Gorosterrazu (197-1998, agency: BIG) accounted for 15 points and 6 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Guard Manuel Gomez (183-1996) came up with 24 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) and forward Santiago Ibarra (198-1998) added 21 points respectively for Pergamino in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Lanus moved-up to fourth place. Loser Pergamino keeps the eleventh position with 11 games lost. Lanus will meet at home higher ranked Zarate Basket (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Pergamino will play against Pico FC (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
