Regular Season Round 27: Union SF - San Lorenzo 90-79

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when nineteenth ranked Union SF (6-19) beat 18th ranked San Lorenzo (6-19) in Santa Fe 90-79 on Friday. Union SF outrebounded San Lorenzo 41-26 including 31 on the defensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for center Ignacio Alessio (203-1987) who led the winners and scored 24 points (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field). American guard Elston Turner (195-1990, college: Texas A&M) accounted for 19 points for the winning side. Union SF's coach Juan Francisco Ponce used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Center Fernando Podesta (205-1992) came up with 24 points and 5 rebounds and Lucas Ortiz added 11 points and 8 assists respectively for San Lorenzo in the defeat. Five San Lorenzo players scored in double figures. Union SF moved-up to eighteenth place, which they share with defeated San Lorenzo. Union SF will meet at home higher ranked Comunicaciones (#17) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. San Lorenzo will have a break next round.
