Regular Season Round 27: Platense - San Martin 66-63

Important game to mention about took place in Florida. Eighth ranked Platense (14-8) saved a 3-point victory at home edging 9th ranked San Martin (12-8) 66-63 on Sunday evening. It was a great evening for American power forward DeMarco Owens (203-1996, college: Montevallo) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Uruguayan-Italian swingman Nicola Pomoli (195-1999) helped adding 13 points. Owens is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Platense's coach Alejandro Vazquez allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The best for the losing side was the former international Javier Saiz (206-1994) with 11 points and 9 rebounds and the former international Matias Solanas (192-1998) scored 13 points. Four San Martin players scored in double figures. Platense moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Penarol and Quimsa. San Martin at the other side keeps the ninth position with eight games lost. Platense will play against higher ranked Olimpico (#5) in La Banda in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. San Martin will play on the road against Obras (#4) in Buenos Aires and hopes to get back on the winning track.
