Regular Season Round 31: Gimnasia - San Martin 85-70

There was no surprise in Comodoro Rivadavia where 20th ranked San Martin (1-18) was defeated by third ranked Gimnasia CR (16-7) 85-70 on Monday. Gimnasia CR dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to San Martin's 26. It was a great evening for Cuban swingman Marcos Chacon (194-2003, agency: Pro Sports) who led his team to a victory scoring 16 points and 7 rebounds. Guard Ramiro Stehli (190-2002) helped adding 14 points and 8 rebounds. Gimnasia CR's coach used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side center Julian Lorca (207-2003) responded with 25 points and 8 rebounds and Tadeo Laphitzborde scored 17 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Gimnasia CR maintains third place with 16-7 record having just two points less than leader Obera. San Martin lost fourth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 18 lost games. Gimnasia CR will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. San Martin will play against Riachuelo LR (#8) in La Rioja and hope to win that game.
