The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Los Leones as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Los Leones smashed 11th ranked Espanol T. in Quilpue 91-48. Los Leones dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Espanol T.'s 24. They outrebounded Espanol T. 52-28 including a 40-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Los Leones looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Espanol T.'s players. American Tyrone Lee (203-1990, college: GVSU) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds for the winners and the former international point guard Tomas Alvarez (185-1989) chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds. Five Los Leones players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was point guard Diego Valenzuela (185-1994) with 17 points and 7 rebounds and American forward Davon Haynes (203-1991, college: UAPB) scored 9 points and 9 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Los Leones (7-0) have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Espanol T. at the other side keeps the eleventh place with five games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
