Regular Season Round 9: Puerto Varas - Puente Alto 91-93

A very close game took place in Puerto Varas between Puente Alto and Puerto Varas. Fifth ranked Puente Alto (6-3) got a very close victory on the road over 7th ranked Puerto Varas (5-5). Puente Alto managed to escape with a 2-point win 93-91 on Saturday evening. Puente Alto looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Puente Alto made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was American forward Dennis McKinney (193-1998, college: Mt.Mercy, agency: GoEmpire Group) who scored 31 points and 7 rebounds. His fellow American import swingman Kevin Holston Jr (185-1998, college: FMU) chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Argentinian Tomas Rossi (202) who recorded a double-double by scoring 22 points and 16 rebounds and Argentinian Nahuel Martinez (188-1995) added 13 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Puerto Varas' coach Leonardo Monsalvez rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the third consecutive win for Puente Alto. They moved-up to fourth place. Puerto Varas lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the eighth position with five games lost. Puente Alto will meet Puerto Montt (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Puerto Varas will play against Quilicura (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
