Regular Season Round 9: Castro - Valdivia 79-77

There was a surprise result when tenth ranked Castro (4-4) edged at home higher ranked Valdivia (5-4) 79-77 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was Argentinian forward Gabriel Hermosillas (202-1993) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds. Venezuelan Luis Merida (190) chipped in 19 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Castro players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Argentinian Juan Manuel Rivero (191-1985) who recorded 24 points and 5 rebounds and the former international Gerardo Isla (201-1991, college: Columbia, MO) added 12 points and 10 rebounds respectively. Valdivia's coach Gabriel Schamberger rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the third consecutive win for Castro. They moved-up to ninth place. Loser Valdivia dropped to the sixth position with four games lost. They share it with Quilicura. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
