Regular Season Round 9: Espanol O. - Concepcion 71-92

There was a minor upset when their close opponent Espanol O. (5-3) was outplayed at home by leader Concepcion (6-0) 92-71 on Saturday. Concepcion looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was naturalized Panamanian point guard Eugenio Luzcando (190-1995, college: Idaho St.) who scored 13 points and 5 assists. International point guard Diego Silva (186) chipped in 9 points and 6 assists. Four Concepcion players scored in double figures. Concepcion's coach Cipriano Nunez felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Dominican Bernardo Polanco (189-1994) who recorded 20 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international Carlos Lauler (190) added 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Concepcion. Defending champion maintains third place with 6-0 record behind leader Los Leones. Loser Espanol O. dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. Concepcion will meet Las Animas (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Espanol O. will have a break next round.
