The game had a very big importance for sixth-ranked Santa Tecla F1 as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Santa Tecla F1 defeated much higher ranked Costa Rica at home 56-51. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Costa Rica. They outrebounded Costa Rica 55-44 including a 46-34 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Santa Tecla F1 made 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of Laura Rivas (171-1999) who helped to win the game recording 14 points and 7 rebounds. Adriana Rivas (175-1996) contributed with 9 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Center Gladis Maravilla (185-1985) replied with 15 points and 9 rebounds and guard Kenia Campos (172-1986) added 6 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals in the effort for Costa Rica. Costa Rica's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Costa Rica at the other side keeps the second place with three games lost.
