Important game to mention about took place in Colon. Eighth ranked La Union (12-13) saved a 1-point victory at home edging 13th ranked Quilmes MP (10-13) 65-64 on Friday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. La Union had a 20-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by center German Frencia (202-1988) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds and forward Emilio Gimenez (196-1995) supported him with 13 points and 6 rebounds. Even a double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) by forward Tomas Nally (202-2002, agency: BIG) did not help to save the game for Quilmes MP. The former international point guard Luis Cequeira (179-1985) added 11 points and 5 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. La Union moved-up to seventh place. Quilmes MP lost sixth consecutive game. They dropped to the eleventh position with 13 games lost. They share it with Rocamora. La Union will play against GELP (#9) in La Plata in the next round. Quilmes MP will play at home against the league's leader Racing where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
