Regular Season Round 15: Catolica - Tinguiririca 90-70

No shocking result in a game when twelfth ranked Catolica (4-9) crushed 14th ranked Tinguiririca (2-11) in Santiago 90-70 on Friday. Catolica made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Catolica outrebounded Tinguiririca 42-28 including a 35-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by Tinguiririca's players. It was an exceptional evening for American point guard Manny Payton (183-1997, college: FSU) who led the winners and scored 21 points and 5 assists. Forward Vicente Damianovic (-1997) accounted for 20 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Payton is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Catolica players scored in double figures. Guard Matias Sepulveda (-1995) came up with 33 points (!!!) and forward Felipe Gonzalez Burgos (183-1998) added 13 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Tinguiririca in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Catolica maintains twelfth place with 4-9 record. Tinguiririca lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the fourteenth position with 11 games lost. Catolica will meet at home higher ranked Concepcion (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Tinguiririca will play against Concepcion (#3) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
