Vivo/Franca outrebounded Penarol 49-32 including a 38-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Vivo/Franca made 9 blocks. Power forward Lucas Mariano (208-1993) notched 21 points and 8 rebounds to lead the effort and center Lucas Silva (208-1995) supported him with 15 points and 13 rebounds. Even 19 points and 9 rebounds by American power forward Charles Thomas (202-1986, college: Arkansas) did not help to save the game for Penarol. His fellow American import power forward Lee Roberts (203-1987, college: Findlay, OH) added 10 points and 9 rebounds for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
