Liga Mayor top team - Santa Tecla 2 (6-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed fifth ranked Santa Ana 2 (0-7) 109-27. Santa Tecla 2 held Santa Ana 2 to an opponent 16.7 percent shooting from the field compared to 52.8 percent accuracy of the winners. Santa Tecla 2 forced 20 Santa Ana 2 turnovers and outrebounded them 58-23 including a 16-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Santa Tecla 2 players were unselfish on offense dishing 38 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Santa Ana 2's players. The winners were led by Cuban center Yayma Boulet (193-1984) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) and point guard Aida Funes (171-1984) supported her with 19 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. Five Santa Tecla 2 players scored in double figures. Even 13 points by guard Melany Sanchez (167-2004) did not help to save the game for Santa Ana 2. Forward Sofia Zavala (167-2005) added 4 points and 6 rebounds for the guests. Santa Tecla 2 have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 6-0 record. Santa Ana 2 at the other side still closes the standings with seven games lost. Santa Tecla 2 will play against Salvadorenas 2 (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day.
