Costa Rica held UCA to an opponent 21.5 percent shooting from the field compared to 41.7 percent accuracy of the winners. Costa Rica had a 35-23 advantage in offensive rebounds. Center Leslie Sermeno (176-1997) had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and center Gladis Maravilla (185-1985) chipped in 11 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. Four Costa Rica players scored in double figures. Jocelyne Zambrano (169-1993) responded with 10 points and 8 rebounds and center Norma Duran (170-1997) scored 3 points and 8 rebounds. UCA's coach gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win.
