Regular Season Round 3: Guaymas - Mazatlan 94-97

The most exciting game of round 3 in the CIBACOPA took place in Guaymas. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of Ostioneros de Guaymas (3-2) to Venados (2-4) 97-94 on Friday evening. It was a great evening for American center Vincent Boumann (206-1996, college: WOU) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points and 8 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Jalek Felton (190-1998, college: UNC) helped adding 22 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals. The best for the losing side was American guard Antwon Lillard (198-1995, college: BGSU) with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and Cuban center Marvin Cairo (203-1991) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Venados are looking forward to face Halcones de Ciudad Obregon (#6) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ostioneros de Guaymas will play against Astros where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
