Regular Season Round 3: Culiacan - Tijuana 98-72

Not a big story in a game when Tijuana Zonkeys (1-5) were rolled over on the road by Caballeros de Culiacan (5-1) 98-72 on Saturday. Caballeros de Culiacan dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Tijuana Zonkeys' 20. It was a great shooting night for Caballeros de Culiacan especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. The best player for the winners was American forward Johnny Hughes III (203-1997, college: UIW) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds. Colombian Michaell Jackson (190-1987) chipped in 19 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Five Caballeros de Culiacan players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Joshua Webster (190-1997, college: Missouri St.) who recorded 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import forward Malik Thomas (201, college: Norfolk St.) added 9 points and 11 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Caballeros de Culiacan will meet at home Rayos de Hermosillo (#4) in the next round. Tijuana Zonkeys will play against Pioneros Los Mochis (#5) and hope to win that game.
