Regular Season Round 3: Guaymas - Mazatlan 91-70

There was no surprise when Venados (2-4) were outplayed on the road by Ostioneros de Guaymas (3-2) 91-70 on Saturday. Ostioneros de Guaymas outrebounded Venados 34-22 including 25 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American guard Markel Crawford (196-1994, college: Ole Miss) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Bryan Rivera (188-1995) chipped in 18 points and 6 rebounds. Four Ostioneros de Guaymas players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Jalek Felton (190-1998, college: UNC) who recorded 21 points and the other American import power forward Alex Kaye Williams (203-1993) added 12 points and 4 assists respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Ostioneros de Guaymas will meet Astros in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Venados will play against Halcones de Ciudad Obregon (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
