Regular Season Round 5: Brujos - Chalchuapa 95-83

Bottom-ranked Chalchuapa (0-5) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their fifth consecutive match to fifth ranked Brujos (2-1) 95-83 on Monday evening. Brujos dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Chalchuapa's 28. Brujos forced 22 Chalchuapa turnovers and outrebounded them 50-25 including a 19-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was point guard Francisco Angulo (179-1989) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 assists. Dominican forward Juan De Los Santos (193-2002) chipped in 26 points and 6 rebounds. American point guard Robert Story (183, college: WSSU) produced 31 points and 5 assists and the other American import Gorg Alhag (190-1997, college: Mayville St.) added 21 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 blocks respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Brujos moved-up to fourth place. Chalchuapa lost their fifth game in a row. They still close the standings with five games lost. Brujos will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Chalchuapa will play against the league's second-placed Metapan (#2) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
