Regular Season Round 6: Santa Tecla - Quezaltepeque 70-67

The most exciting game of round 6 in the Liga MB took place in Santa Tecla. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 8th ranked Quezaltepeque (3-4) to top-ranked Santa Tecla (6-0) 70-67 on Thursday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. The best player for the winners was Cuban forward Yoel Cubillas (204-1994) who had a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds. Dominican Darwin Cabrera chipped in 11 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Dominican forward Rayner Moquete (185-1990, college: Binghamton) who recorded 22 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and American center Marc Montavious (206-1990, college: Georgetown, KY) added 18 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Santa Tecla have an impressive six-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with San Salvador. Quezaltepeque at the other side dropped to the fifth place with four games lost. Santa Tecla is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Chalchuapa (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Quezaltepeque will have a break next round.
