There was a minor upset when 5th ranked Halcones de Ciudad Obregon (3-6) lost on the road to seventh ranked Tijuana Zonkeys (5-5) 93-80 on Friday. Tijuana Zonkeys made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. American guard Joshua Webster (190-1997, college: Missouri St.) nailed 27 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) for the winning side and his fellow American import forward Malik Thomas (201, college: Norfolk St.) accounted for 21 points. American guard Jimmy Whitt (190-1997, college: Arkansas, agency: Interperformances) came up with 22 points and 5 rebounds and international center Alejandro Reyna (206-1997, agency: ROCKIN SPORTS) added 15 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Halcones de Ciudad Obregon in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Tijuana Zonkeys have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place. Loser Halcones de Ciudad Obregon dropped to the sixth position with six games lost. They share it with Los Mochis. Tijuana Zonkeys will meet higher ranked Rayos de Hermosillo (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
