Bottom-ranked Santa Ana 2 is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their ninth consecutive match to third ranked Salvadorenas 2 (5-5) 71-47 on Friday evening. Salvadorenas 2 forced 22 Santa Ana 2 turnovers and outrebounded them 50-34 including a 13-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. Center Silvia Vega (176-2003) notched a double-double by scoring 10 points, 16 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the effort and Cuban Leanet Gutierrez supported her with 10 points and 18 rebounds. Four Salvadorenas 2 players scored in double figures. Salvadorenas 2's coach felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 17 points and 6 rebounds by guard Melany Sanchez (167-2004) did not help to save the game for Santa Ana 2. Forward Sofia Zavala (167-2005) added 8 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals for lost side. Salvadorenas 2 maintains third position with 5-5 record having three points less than leader Santa Tecla 2. Loser Santa Ana 2 still closes the standings with nine games lost. Salvadorenas 2 will meet at home LMMR 2 (#4) in the next round. Santa Ana 2 will play against LMMR 2 and hopes to get finally their first victory.
