Everything went according to plan when fourteenth ranked La Union (15-17) defeated 19th ranked San Lorenzo (7-26) in Almagro 82-77 on Saturday. The former international center Ivan Basualdo (203-1990) notched 14 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals to lead the effort and American-Syrian guard Douglas Herring Jr (191-1987, college: Utica) supported him with 15 points and 5 assists. Four La Union players scored in double figures. Even 13 points and 5 assists by point guard Lucas Perez (184-1987) did not help to save the game for San Lorenzo. Center Fernando Podesta (205-1992) added 13 points and 8 rebounds for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. La Union moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Riachuelo LR. San Lorenzo lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the nineteenth position with 26 games lost. La Union will meet higher ranked Penarol (#9) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. San Lorenzo will play against San Martin (#12) in Corrientes and hope to secure a win.
