Regular Season Round 7: Chalchuapa - Santa Tecla 75-91

Bottom-ranked Chalchuapa is still unable to win any game. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their sixth consecutive match to leader Santa Tecla (4-0) 91-75. Santa Tecla dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Chalchuapa's 28. They outrebounded Chalchuapa 64-31 including a 16-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Santa Tecla players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Chalchuapa's players. It was a great evening for Cuban forward Yoel Cubillas (204-1994) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!), 24 rebounds and 4 blocks. Guard Najeen Nawabi (186-1999) helped adding 16 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. Four Santa Tecla players scored in double figures. At the losing side Ryann Mercado responded with 39 points (!!!) and American Gorg Alhag (190-1997, college: Mayville St.) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 15 rebounds. Chalchuapa's coach Rodolfo Aguiar rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Santa Tecla have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Metapan. Chalchuapa at the other side still closes the standings with six games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
