There was a small surprise when seventh ranked Tijuana Zonkeys (5-5) defeated at home 5th ranked Halcones de Ciudad Obregon (3-6) 86-72 on Saturday. Tijuana Zonkeys looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American players dominated the game. Guard Joshua Webster (190-1997, college: Missouri St.) nailed a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 assists for the winning side and guard Spencer Williams (188-1995, college: Wooster) accounted for 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Tijuana Zonkeys players scored in double figures. Guard Jimmy Whitt (190-1997, college: Arkansas, agency: Interperformances) came up with 25 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Deshaun Cooper (173-1991, college: NW Missouri St.) added 13 points and 5 assists respectively for Halcones de Ciudad Obregon in the defeat. Tijuana Zonkeys have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place. Loser Halcones de Ciudad Obregon dropped to the sixth position with six games lost. They share it with Los Mochis. Tijuana Zonkeys will meet higher ranked Rayos de Hermosillo (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon will play against Ostioneros de Guaymas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
